About Brenda Li

Brenda was born and raised in Hong Kong and worked as the Human Resources Director for a Paris listed IT service company.
Her Canadian husband, also in the corporate world, was head of the German company Carl Zeiss in Asia for 25 years and before retiring, became the CEO of a Swedish camera company. His passion for wildlife and technical knowledge of photography was the inspiration which sparked Brenda’s enthusiastic journey of wildlife photography over 20 years ago. Brenda says that this journey never ends as there is always something new to learn in the wild. Her photographs are testimony of this as she keeps providing much pleasure to her many admirers and keen followers.
Brenda’s preferred camera is a Sony A7R4 camera with 61 Megapixels with full frame sensor. This is coupled with a Sony G Master 100-400 Zoom lens. However, the person behind the lens is more important.

The animals and birds that Brenda captures seem to sense the love and respect she has for wildlife and this can be seen by the tranquil manner they seem to adopt when she is in their presence. It has often been said that her photographs evoke a similar relaxed feeling for the viewer.
Brenda prefers not to digitally edit or alter her photographs with various effects or filters, instead she captures wildlife in a more natural way for her audience.

Brenda and her husband retired in 2015 and having travelled extensively, decided to call South Africa their home – a further testament to how special this country is.
They are devoted supporters of wildlife conservation and have been involved in numerous initiatives, including being the founders of the Rhino Conservation Awards in 2011 with HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco as Patron.

For Brenda, wildlife photography is not a business but a true passion. She has requested that in lieu of any royalty for her art, a portion of all sales made through Zawadi, to be donated to animal conservation foundations.
